Welcome to Episode 128 of SEO This Week.  If you didn't notice (I hope you did) I took a week off to get some much-needed work completed that I was backed up on.  So this week we are bringing you stories from a two week period of time.  The bad news is, there wasn't all that much, outside of a Google update.  That said I found some great articles for everyone that should provide some much-needed SEO knowledge.

We launched in the run-up to National Beach Day in June and got ahead of other travel brands talking about beaches – all of this was an incredibly conscious decision because we knew the national, travel and lifestyle press would be talking about beaches as a topic in high summer. Leading writers would have been briefed to write about long haul holidays and specifically beaches during June, so as a brand we just had to give them content to cover. The campaign was a success because we tied it into a type of journalism called planned editorial.

The Google Maverick Update Slowing Down

What a wild several days with Google updates – we had fluctuations on July 11, 12 and 16th and then some massive chatter and Google search result fluctuations on July 18th or so. Google would not confirm or deny these updates, so it was named by the community the Google Maverick Update.

Google Webmaster Hangouts Tests Moving Off YouTube To Hangouts Meet

Once again the Google webmaster hangouts hosted by John Mueller and other Googlers have to move to another platform. This time it is moving from YouTube Live Hangouts on Air to GSuite Hangouts Meet. John Mueller from Google said he is going to give this format a try on this upcoming Friday's hangout, which I believe starts at 3 am EDT.
